CopyLeaks is SIU’s official plagiarism detection and AI content verification tool, integrated into D2L Brightspace. It helps instructors evaluate the originality of student work while promoting academic honesty and proper citation practices.

How to Use CopyLeaks in D2L

Instructors can enable CopyLeaks when setting up a D2L Assignment Folder:

1. Go to your course in D2L.

2. Open the Assignments tab.

3. Create or edit an assignment.

4. Under Evaluation & Feedback, enable CopyLeaks Plagiarism Detection.

5. Choose your scan options (originality, AI content, etc.).

Students will receive a message stating that the assignment is being checked for originality.

Bongo is an integrated video-based assessment tool available in D2L Brightspace. It allows instructors to assign, collect, and evaluate student video submissions. Bongo is ideal for oral presentations, group projects, reflections, interviews, or any assignment that benefits from asynchronous video engagement.

What Bongo Can Do:

• Enable video responses from students directly within D2L

• Support individual and group assignments

• Offer automated speech analysis (pauses, filler words, pace)

• Allow instructor or peer review of videos with timestamped feedback

• Work with both webcam and screen recording

How to Use Bongo in D2L

To add a Bongo assignment:

1. Go to your course in D2L Brightspace.

2. Under Content, add or edit a module.

3. Select External Learning Tools, then choose Bongo (Video Assignments).

4. Create a new assignment and select the type:

   • Individual Project

   • Group Project

   • Question & Answer

   • Interactive Video

Assignments can be graded, linked to the D2L Brightspace Gradebook, and customized with rubrics.
