About the Program

The Instructor Medallion Club is Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s premier recognition program for teaching excellence.
Designed to honor faculty who go above and beyond, the program celebrates those who commit to continuous growth, innovative teaching, and student success.

Medallions are awarded at three levels:

  • Bronze – Building a foundation of teaching excellence.

  • Silver – Expanding contributions and broader impact.

  • Gold – Distinguished leadership and lasting influence.

Levels of Recognition

Bronze Medallion

Acknowledges commitment to teaching enhancement, professional development, and service to students and the university.

Silver Medallion

Recognizes faculty who go further—contributing new courses, advancing pedagogy, and making a broader impact across SIU.

Gold Medallion

Honors the highest level of distinction in teaching excellence, educator leadership, and contributions that align with SIU’s long-term vision.

Benefits of the Program
