Why Seek Help from an Instructional Designer?

Instructional Designers (IDs) operate at the intersection of educational theory, teaching practice, and technology innovation.

IDs collaborate with instructors to create effective learning experiences in the classroom and online. We incorporate universal design principles, inclusive pedagogy, evidence-based instruction, and DEI practices into the design process.

SIUC’s IDs are idea generators, innovators, makers, and problem solvers in partnership with our phenomenal faculty. We seek to propel teaching excellence so we can delivery amazing content in amazing ways to our amazing Salukis.

Our Work is a Partnership

IDs partner with instructors to design engaging and effective courses. While IDs provide ideas and feedback, instructors control all the decisions about how a course is structured, the content presented, and the activities, assessments, and discussion questions to be included.
